Description
Most of the measures can only be selected in combination with the ‘basic measure’ so that only very few can be implemented in isolation. The 32 measures offered can be grouped into the following broad categories of activities and goals:
• The conversion to and continuation of organic farming, to support a farming
system which is widely seen as environmentally friendly
• The renunciation or reduction in use of fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides and
growth regulators, including integrated production of fruits, vegetables and
wine. The expected impacts include securing water quality as well as enhancing
biodiversity and protecting the soil from exposure to chemicals
• Planting of cover crops on arable land in autumn and winter, mostly to reduce
soil erosion
• The maintenance of grassland farming while ensuring maximum stocking rates,
to support extensive, environmentally friendly practices in mountainous areas
• The preservation of rare breeds and varieties so as to maintain plant and animal
genetic resources naturally adapted to local conditions and
• The creation and maintenance of landscape elements that preserve characteristic
cultural landscapes and provide habitats for farming-dependent plants and
animal species
Project Scope
The amount of support granted rises sharply as the severity of the natural disadvantages and management handicaps increase
- the presence of environmental measures
- the availability of funds that allow access
- he influence of the Agricultural Chambers and environmental protection groups
